Some perspective

So, voter turnout was the highest it's been in three decades, and the incumbent dunderhead received a narrow but clear majority of the votes cast. Setting aside for the moment the question of whether those votes were all in fact deliberately cast by eligible human voters rather than by diabolical Diebolds, this means that, among persons eligible to vote in the United States:

  • Approximately 40.0% did not vote.
  • Approximately 30.6% voted for Bush.
  • Approximately 28.8% voted for Kerry.
  • Approximately  0.6% voted for someone else, such as Cobb, Nader, Badnarik, or Peroutka.

So it's another clear plurality for the winning ticket of apathy and disaffection. Nobody wins again!
