Crying out the name of the newspaper

I've seen similar memes before; this particular version I got from skelkins:

  1. Grab the nearest book.
  2. Open the book to page 23.
  3. Find the fifth sentence.
  4. Post the text of the sentence in your journal along with these instructions.

Result: Crying out the name of the newspaper.

The nearest book was not, as you might be speculating, 101 Things Not to Do in Bed, but rather Linguistics and Literature, by Nigel Fabb (Blackwell, 1997).

Context, shmontext

Well, it was punctuated as if it were a sentence. Here's some of the surrounding text:

1.7.2 What kinds of verbal behaviour can be considered verbal art?

(b) Crying out the name of the newspaper.

People whose profession is to sell newspapers or magazines in the street usually cry out the name of the newspaper (and may add other words or phrases).

Choose a specific example of this which you are familiar with and decide whether it can be characterized as verbal art.
